The telephone IDD code is 350 - Internet TLD .gi - GSM roaming on 900 and 3G networks run by Gibtelecom,
and a 3G network operated by CTS Communications.
It is a British Overseas Territory, a member of the EU as a UK special territory, and has its own laws
and Government, English is the official language although Spanish is widely spoken. Tourism is an
important local industry and is well catered for.

Gibraltar is on Central European Time which is UTC+1 with an additional
hour added in the summer for daylight saving time. Clocks change at the same
date as London and other European cities.
Only two and half hours away by air, you can fly direct to Gibraltar
from Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester and Luton Airports with scheduled services operated
by British Airways, Easyjet and Monarch on a daily basis. There are also
flights from the UK to Malaga Airport, although this is some distance away.
The border with Spain is open 24 hours a day, and you can drive
or walk in. Taxi's cannot cross the border for legal reasons.Fraudsters used
to attempt to charge for a 'ticket' to enter Gibraltar, just ignore them and report it
to the Spanish Police. The Mayor of the adjoining town want to charge an 'entrance fee'
the Spanish Government does not permit this.
The legal tender in Gibraltar is Sterling. The Gibraltar Government issues notes and
coinage. UK notes and coins are equally welcome. Many places accept other international currency.
There is no restriction as to how much currency you can bring into Gibraltar.
There are a full range of international banks, including several
UK institutions. Banks are generally open from 9 am. to 3.30 p.m.
on weekdays. Credit cards and travellers cheques are widely
accepted. There are ATM's outside banks and in Main Street.
EU nationals can enter Gibraltar with a national identity card or
passport. A Passport is required if travelling to Morocco.
Visas are required from visitors
from certain countries and current information and advice
is available from the Immigration Department, Treasury Building, Secretary's
Lane. Tel: + 350 20071543. If in doubt check with them. Short term visas to enter
the UK are not valid for Gibraltar as it is a seperate territory.
There are no camping facilities on the Rock itself, but there are a
number of excellent camping and caravan sites are located nearby in
Spain. Towed caravans are prohibited from entering Gibraltar.
Electrical power and sockets are the same as those in the United
Kingdom. The voltage is 240v AC 50hz with 13A 3 flat pin plugs
conforming to BS1363 Telephones use BT modular plugs and the same
system as the UK.
There is an active local Jewish community with a number of synagogues and a Glatt Kosher
restaurant open to the public in the Jewish Club.
